Proper care and maintenance will preserve the luster of the floor's finish, plus help the topcoat finish protect the wood beneath.

The cleaning and maintenance tips provided here apply to wood floors sealed and finished with a clear protective coating such as polyurethane or factory prefinished UV coatings. Bona® Swedish Formula Hardwood Floor Cleaner is not recommended for use on oiled or waxed floors.

	Vacuum or Sweep Always vacuum or sweep to remove dirt and grit prior to cleaning your wood floors with the Bona® WoodFloorWipe® Hardwood Floor Cleaning Kit.
	Spray Lightly mist an 8'x8' area of your wood floor, or directly mist the Bona® Mop terry cloth cover, with Bona® Swedish Formula® Hardwood Floor Cleaner.
	Wipe Using a back and forth motion, clean the floor surface with your Bona® Mop or clean, soft cloth. Finish one area before moving on to the next. The Bona® Mop's low profile and easy-to-maneuver swivel-head makes it the perfect cleaning tool for the hard-to-reach areas such as under furniture and cabinets, around doors or in tight corners. When your terry cloth cover or cloth becomes soiled, replace with clean ones. Continued use of excessively soiled covers or cloths may cause streaking. Your Bona® Mop terry cloth covers are reusable. Simply wash and dry them as you would any toweling. When a spill occurs, soak up the bulk liquid promptly. Mist the affected area with Bona® Hardwood Floor Cleaner and clean with your Bona® Mop or a clean, soft cloth.

What To Do...

	Vacuum or sweep floor regularly. Remove spills promptly. Use a soft cloth and Bona® Swedish Formula®Hardwood Floor Cleaner to clean wet spills. Use a vacuum or broom for dry spills and abrasives. Place mats at exterior doors to trap sand and grit from incoming traffic.
	Use area rugs on high traffic pathways and pivot areas: at ends of steps, near doorways, etc. All rugs should allow floors to breathe. Avoid rubber-backed or non-ventilated rugs. When rugs are impractical, periodically check for wear.
	Install Bona®WoodFloorGards® on "feet" of furniture. Maintain the relative humidity in your home between 45% and 55% because excessive humidity can cause wood fibers to swell, creating cracks in the finish.

What NOT To Do...

	Do not let sand, dirt or grit build up. They can act like sandpaper and actually abrade, dull and scratch the floor finish.
	Avoid walking on wood floors in high heels. They can severely damage wood floors. Keep heels in good repair. Keep pets' claws properly trimmed to avoid excessive scratches and gouges.
	Do not use wax, oil soap, or other household cleaners on your polyurethane finished wood floor. The use of these products can dull today's floor finishes and make refinishing difficult.
